The conducting of International Specialized Exhibition " Biotech World' 2002" is caused by the urgent necessity to support the development of biotechnical science and the usage of its achievements in agriculture, industry, health services, environmental protection and other spheres of economic activity in Russian Federation, as well as making latest developments of Russian manufactures more attractive for both domestic and foreign investors.

1. Biotechnology and Medicine: production of drugs on the basis of genetic modified producers.
   ( vaccines, immunomodulators, proteins, catalytic antibodies); new elaborations in the fields of diagnostics and therapy; enzymes and proteins as drugs; technological packing and prepacking equipment.
2. Biotechnology and Agriculture: technologies of biopreparations production on the basis of beneficial rhizobacteria; bioreactors; plant growth regulations; transgenic plants and animals.
3. Biotechnology and Industry: processes and equipment of microbiological industries; processes of sterile fermentation ( manufacture of antibiotics, enzymes, polysaccharides, vitamins, plant protection agents etc); technological processes and equipment for non- sterile fermentation ( manufacture of bakery yeasts, fodder protein , alcohol); industrial usage of microorganisms; biocatalysis in industry.

Biotechnology and Foodstuffs: technology of enzyme and bacterial preparations manufacture; manufacture technologies of food proteins, polysaccharides, low molecular mass food additives (surfactants, organic acids, amino acids, dyes, aroma substances, etc); technology of foodstuffs manufacture , including functional ones with demanded composition and quality.
6. Biocatalysis and Biocatalytic Technology: biocatalyses in the organic synthesis and biocatalytic and biocatalytic technologies; genetic engineering technologies; nanobiotechnology and biochips; biosensors.
7. Biogeotechnology: biotechnology of gold, silver and non-ferrous metals; biotechnology in the oil industry.
